Autumn in Cades Cove

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope that you and yours had a nice celebration with family over the long weekend!

This week I wanted to kick off a series on the Fall colors from this year with a picture… that has no fall colors in it at all really (hey, it’s my blog… right?). 🙂  That’s just sort of how I roll.  In all seriousness there were some really nice colors in Cades Cove on this day, however as the sun was rising and the fog was beginning to lift, I was struck by the image of this tree.  If you’ve followed this blog for any amount of time you’ve likely realized that I love a good solitary tree.  There is just something I really like about scenes like these.  This particular tree is my new favorite in the Cove… if you can have such a thing (which in fact you can because mine has changed several times over the years).  This particular tree is in a field on the left, just past the Methodist Church.  I’ve taken several shots of it this year, but this is by far my favorite.

Next week, there will be color… I promise!
