The Fog Man

You know, sometimes… you just have to punt.

Earlier in the year a friend of mine and I went to Cades Cove with the intent to do some star trail photography.  We had checked the weather meticulously and were excited because there was a small enough amount of moon to get good lighting on the ground, but not so much that it really disrupted the camera’s ability to see the stars.  Everything was going perfect… and then a huge pile of fog rolled in.  The kind of fog that you can’t see your hand in front of your face… and the kind of fog that doesn’t go anywhere quickly.

After resigning ourselves to the fact that we weren’t going to be shooting the sky that night, we decided instead, to play around with the fog.  My buddy Steve had just picked up a new flashlight that was super bright… so this was my contribution to the photographic idea process.
